Merab Labadze is an experienced expert in capacity building, digital transformation, and education innovation. As the Director and co-founder of the Innovative Education Foundation, he has played a pivotal role in implementing and scaling cutting-edge educational methodologies, electronic resources, and science and technology promotion initiatives. Merab Labadze was a team leader in an ambitious nationwide school computerization program in Georgia Deer Leap (2005-2008), inspired by the Estonian Tiger Learp program that created a basis for further expansion of ICT in education and IT education. Holding a MA in Physics from Tbilisi State University, he later studied Education Policy, Planning and Administration in Pennsylvania State University as a Hubert Humphrey fellow. With extensive experience in digital skills development, Merab has led the adaptation, localization, and national rollout of globally recognized training programs, including Intel Teach® and Intel Learn®. His work in teacher training, entrepreneurship education, and digital competence development has empowered educators, students, and professionals to thrive in the digital age. Merab has spearheaded initiatives integrating technology into vocational education and training (TVET), working with FabLabs and Georgia Innovation and Technology agency to enhance practical digital skills and entrepreneurship. Through different donor funded initiative, he has facilitated capacity-building programs in the regions that bridge skill gaps, promote innovation, and prepare individuals for the evolving digital economy. More recently Merab has been working with the European Training Foundation as a regional expert in digital skills development initiatives (SELFIE pilot in 2020), and co-led the Innovative STEAM education club within the Creating New Learning program (2024).
